Studio Alto serves as a living research lab.
We reserve specific blocks of the year to transition from a private sanctuary into a physical laboratory for the public good. We invite international architects, curators, visual artists, and researchers to inhabit our space in Playa Grande. This program is a deliberate exchange: we provide an environment designed for immersive focus and creative clarity; you bring a new perspective to document, challenge, or alter the space.

A retreat, our sanctuary is designed to live at the rhythm of the environment for rest, transition, or creative focus. Bespoke, on an individual or group basis.
Whether you are transitioning, recovering, or focusing on a project, your immersion in Studio Alto will be shaped around your needs.
Art, Tech and Nature — a Living Lab
You are invited into this living space for collaborative research at the intersection of art, ecology, design, and technology.
Residencies welcome artists and creatives engaged in research, experimentation, or long-term work during the green and rainy seasons. Studio Alto may have a call for artists — you can also apply directly.

Partners and Futurists — a cultural contribution
Leave a Trace. In return, residents leave a permanent or digital trace for Studio Alto and/or the community. This can manifest as a site-specific installation, a curated essay, an architectural case study, an audio experience, an exhibition, or a film.
